The Policy Working Group is comprised of individuals and organisations committed to shaping policy around big social issues. The group will work alongside the Commissioners to review the emerging evidence, inform emerging hypotheses and suggest policy positions.

Alex Burghart, Director of Policy, Centre for Social Justice

 

Alex is the Director of Policy at independent think tank Centre for Social Justice, having joined in May 2012 from Barnardo’s.

Previously, he worked as a Policy Advisor in the Department for Education on the Munro Review of Child Protection and at the National Children’s Bureau. 

From 2008 to 2010, Alex was an adviser to Tim Loughton MP, then Shadow Minister for Children and Young People, and was responsible for drawing up Conservative policy on adoption, child protection, special educational needs and children in care. He is the author of 'A Better Start in Life: Long-term approaches for the most vulnerable children' and a regular contributor to the Times Literary Supplement.
