Sophie has been Chief Executive of City Year UK since November 2009, when the organisation was first set up in London.
City Year recruits 18-to-25-year-olds to volunteer for an academic year as near-peer role models, mentors and tutors in schools in deprived areas.
Sophie has a background working in the charity sector and with young people and was previously Deputy Chief Executive at the Private Equity Foundation, where she first got involved in bringing the organisation to the UK.
Sophie has also worked at the Foyer Federation, for environmental regeneration charity Groundwork UK, at ITV and for a Member of Parliament. Sophie has appeared on a variety of TV and radio programmes and written for a number of publications in both a personal and professional capacity.
