Eight independent Commissioners have been selected to shape the thinking around the issues the Commission will explore and produce practical and insightful recommendations. 


Each Commissioner brings a wealth of experience from their respective fields which include academia, business, education, politics and the public sector.

Mary Macleod, MP for Brentford and Isleworth

 

Mary is a banker, turned politician. She was previously a management consultant with Accenture and served as Policy Advisor to The Queen.

Mary was elected as MP in May 2010 in west London with a 1,958 majority. She is Parliamentary Private Secretary (PPS) to the Secretary of State for Culture, Olympics, Media and Sport and Minister for Women and Equalities and recently appointed by the Prime Minister as Small Business Ambassador for London. Prior to this, Mary was PPS to the Minister for Policing and Criminal Justice and on the Home Affairs Select Committee. 

Mary is also Chairman of the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Women in Parliament, Co-Chair of the APPG for Microfinance, member of the RAF in the Armed Forces Parliamentary Scheme and a Trustee of the Industry Parliament Trust. 

Outside of politics, Mary is on the Advisory Boards of Career Academies UK and Learning for Life, Trustee of the Holland Park School Trust, Fellow of Sporting Equals and the Royal Society of Arts. Locally, she is President of the Chiswick Royal British Legion and Community Champion of Brentford Football Club Community Sports Trust.
